16cm² surface area is ideal for electrochemical hydrogen compression experiments when testing new types of catalyst or membranes. With 16cm² the compression current should be sufficient to compress up to 100bar in under 10 minutes (given the cathode volume is limited to 5cm³). Upon a positive result, usually a larger area test (40cm² or larger) will be initiated and further on upscaled for commercial use.
This PTL material is suited for water electrolysis, electrochemical hydrogen compression and purification. The dimensions are 41mm by 52mm with rounded off edges (R1.25). This PTL is used on the anode and cathode of the 16cm² electrochemical hydrogen compression cell of Proton Technologies.
